If you like being a wallflower, this is not the season for you.

All-over sequins, bejeweled fabric and dresses with built-in necklaces are hot this holiday season. Keep the accessories at a minimum and let these sparklers catch the light on their own.

Don’t like all the bling? Opt to stand out in red or in a color you won’t be copied in, such as a day glo yellow number from Trina Turk.

Check out this slide show of holiday dresses. Michael Goulding of the Orange County Register shot the photos, and Lindy Flowers of Mission Viejo modeled the looks. Joel X. Phua of Sassoon Salon at South Coast Plaza styled the hair.

The dresses were provided by Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, both at South Coast Plaza, and Trina Turk at Fashion Island. Accessories came from Kate Spade at Fashion Island.
